Installation, onboarding, and AI setup — step by step.

Installation
Download Owlu from owlu.site and drag it into your Applications folder. Owlu requires macOS 13.0 or later. Launch the app to begin the onboarding flow.

Onboarding Flow
Step 1 — Sign In: Choose Google or Microsoft via OAuth 2.0. Owlu never stores your password.
Step 2 — Device Verification: Owlu checks your device for 3 seconds ("Checking device... Verifying security and account information"). First device users proceed to email integration; returning users skip ahead.
Step 3 — Email Integration (first device only): Connect additional email accounts. A popup lets you add Google or Microsoft accounts. You can skip this and add them later.
Step 4 — Security & Privacy Policy: Review the privacy policy, toggle telemetry consent, and continue.
Step 5 — Initial Sync: Owlu syncs email headers first for instant inbox access, then downloads bodies in the background. You can start reading immediately. Header sync completion triggers transition to the main inbox.

AI Persona Onboarding
After initial sync, Owlu offers AI Persona setup from the inbox filter bar ('Set Up AI Persona' button).
Step 1 — Understanding: "AI Persona Setting" screen explains how Owlu imports your email history to categorize emails. Click 'I Understand' to proceed.
Step 2 — Email Categorization: Owlu processes your emails through 7 phases:
• Processing Body Content — secures email bodies (shows X remaining)
• Finding Forwarded Emails — searches for forwarded messages
• Analyzing Forwarded Email Characteristics — processes forwarded (X/Y) and related emails (X/Y)
• Forwarded Complete — processing done
• Preparing JSON — preparing data for AI server
• Sending to Server — transmitting to AI
• Successfully Sent — AI Boost setup complete
After completion, click 'Return to Main' to enter the AI-organized inbox with up to 6 categories.

Access Settings from the gear icon. Three tabs:
• Account: Manage connected email accounts (LinkedEmailView)
• AI: Control AI features and personalization (AIControlView)
